Yesterday evening I went through the Handbook and I appreciated its clear and concise style which confirmed -to my great relief -some findings I have reached in my dissertation through hard work and lot of Internet browsing. In fact I have been working alone around the subject which is quite new for Italian operators and I had lot of doubts about the correct interpretation of trends and opportunities.
The suggestions about marketing tools and detailed description of exhibitions reveal a real hands-on approach, a concrete knowledge of the Chinese travel market and of the problems a company may face in China.
It is not paying a lip service to say that this report is a useful tool for operators, especially the section "sales and marketing in China". Here in Italy several organizations are writing reports as speedy standardized recipes for entry, but it is clear that they do not have a first-hand knowledge of the market and describe Chinese people in a very curious and in some way offending manner... for example, stressing the need to apologize for Chinese people who are accustomed to spit or are very noisy.
Cultural misunderstanding is a real menace under this approach to the Chinese market!!"
